About Prisoners List

This list of prisoners in PFDJ jails was initially compiled by farajat.com  from different sources. The list is not a complete list and does not contain all the names of prisoners in the  PFDJ jails. It also does not include names of many citizens who simply disappeared after they were picked by plainclothes PFDJ security officials.

Since there is no court system in Eritrea, it is not possible to get the names of imprisoned citizens; the PFDJ rules by regime Fiat and runs the country as a military camp. The PFDJ, which is not accountable to anyone, doesn't consider Eritreans worthy enough to enjoy civil liberties.

While browsing the list, please note that the PFDJ sometimes jails and frees people whimsically without stating the reason for arrest or the reason for release imprisoned citizens. Though the PFDJ has added more people to its prison population since the list was last updated, it is possible that a few might have been released. We urge you to take this list as an indication of the grave situation in which Eritreans find themselves.
